Work Location

This role follows a hybrid work model, primarily remote, with one day per week in the Denver office.

 

The Role

CenturyLink Investment Management (CIM) is seeking a Senior Investment Analyst to play a key role in shaping investment strategy, asset allocation, and research for Lumen’s defined benefit pension plan and 401(k) savings plan.

CIM serves as the investment fiduciary for Lumen Technologies’ employee benefit assets, overseeing approximately $12 billion in combined assets ($4B pension / $8B 401(k)). This role offers broad exposure across portfolio construction, glide path design, capital markets research, and external manager due diligence within a lean, hands‑on investment organization.

This is an ideal opportunity for an investment professional who enjoys pairing deep analytical work with big‑picture portfolio thinking in a collaborative, high‑impact environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Help shape investment strategy and asset allocation for the defined benefit pension plan and 401(k) target date funds
  • Analyze capital markets and asset class behavior to inform portfolio construction decisions
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research—leveraging artificial intelligence—to generate actionable investment insights
  • Assess portfolio positioning, performance drivers, and risk characteristics across strategies
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in defined contribution investing and retirement solutions; conduct in‑depth research on relevant topics
  • Partner with the team to research and evaluate external investment managers across public and private asset classes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners on investment initiatives and special projects

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • 3–10 years of investment experience in institutional investing, asset management, or investment consulting
  • CFA designation or strong interest in obtaining
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in investing and financial markets
  • High attention to detail with the ability to think holistically about portfolios
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Familiarity with AI and eagerness to integrate it into the investment process
  • Proficiency with investment analysis tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar, and eVestment

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Salary ranges may vary by location.

Colorado Base Salary Range:
$84,514 – $112,681
